The Fall Guy is a 2024 American action comedy film directed by David Leitch and written by Drew Pearce. The movie is loosely based on the 1980s US hit TV series of the same name.
As a stunt double for the renowned action star Tom Ryder, Hollywood stunt performer Colt Seavers suffers a severe injury, breaking his back during a mishap, which leads him to abandon both his career and his girlfriend, camerawoman Jody Moreno. Eighteen months later, now working as a valet at a small Mexican restaurant, Colt receives a call from Gail Meyer, Tom’s film producer, informing him that Jody is directing her debut film, a space opera titled Metalstorm, featuring Tom, and she wishes for Colt to join the production in Sydney.
Upon his arrival on set, Colt discovers that Jody never requested his presence and harbours resentment over their past relationship, with the film serving as a veiled expression of her grievances towards him. Gail further reveals that Tom has gone missing after entangling himself with dangerous individuals, and she implores Colt to locate him to prevent the already overbudget movie from being cancelled.
Determined not to jeopardize Jody’s directorial debut, Colt agrees to help. His search leads him to Tom’s apartment, where he encounters Tom’s girlfriend and co-star Iggy, who provides a lead that takes him to a nightclub. There, Colt is deceived by drug dealer Doone into consuming a hallucinogenic cocktail, resulting in a confrontation with Doone’s henchmen. Following this, Colt visits Tom’s hotel room, only to discover a dead body submerged in a bathtub filled with ice, but when he returns with the police, the body has mysteriously vanished.
